International Training; two researchers of DBP enrolled in “Environmental DNA for Marine Molecular Ecology”, in Seattle, US

SEMARANG – In a continuous effort to enhance the quality and capacity of its international-scale research, two researchers from the Diponegoro Biodiversity Project (DBP), Melvie and Danie, have successfully completed advanced training in the United States. This participation is part of the department’s commitment to adopting the latest research technologies in the field of molecular ecology.

The two researchers attended an intensive training course titled “Environmental DNA (eDNA) for Marine Molecular Ecology,” hosted by the Friday Harbor Laboratories, University of Washington, USA, over three weeks, on 29 July to 19 August 2025. Friday Harbor Laboratories is renowned as one of the world’s leading marine research institutions, making this a highly prestigious opportunity.

During the program, the researchers not only received theoretical instruction from leading experts but were also directly involved in hands-on laboratory, research planning, study design, laboratorium rocessing, bioinformatic, and field sessions. As documented, the activities included interactive classroom discussions, lab work, and neetworking with international researchers who share a common interest in eDNA research.
